功能主治

補氣養陰，清熱生津。用於氣虛陰虧，內熱，咳喘痰血，虛熱煩倦，消渴，口燥喉乾。用量3～6g。益肺陰，清虛火，生津止渴。治肺虛久嗽，失血，咽乾口渴，虛熱煩倦。
驗方

1. 熱病傷陰，消渴，口燥喉乾：配石斛、麥冬、沙參。
2. 陰虛，血虛，體衰無力：配當歸、熟地黃、白芍、赤芍。
3. 單味方（上海中醫藥雜誌，1979，（4）：29）：主治腫瘤（如鼻咽癌）病人在接受放療和化療過程中出現咽乾、惡心、消瘦、胃口不好、白細胞下降等不良反應。每天取西洋參3～9g，水煎服。在放療前2周開始，直到放療結束。方中西洋參益氣養陰生津。
4. 單味方（廣東省藥品標準）：主治肺虛咳嗽、口咽乾燥、潮熱盜汗、腎虛頭暈、肝虛貧血、中氣不足、脾胃虛弱等。取西洋參500g，研為細粉，裝入硬膠囊中，製成1000粒，每粒0.5g。每次服2粒，每天2次。服藥期間忌食蘿蔔。方中西洋參補益扶正，滋陰生津。
